The introduction of My Magic+ and the My Disney Experience app was the end of park touring as we previously knew it. No more running around the entire park to collect fast passes at rope drop and keeping your fingers crossed that you get the time you want. Now we can sign up for 3 fast passes 60 days in advance if you stay on Disney property and 30 days in advance for off property guests. But once you use those 3 you now jump on your app to sign up for a 4th. We also use our smartphones to check on our dining reservations, Photopass photos show up almost right after they are taken and the app will now give you exact walking/transportation directions to anywhere on property. But having the app open on your phone will drain the battery like no other app I have used. For the past couple years I have been hauling around a huge external battery pack to the parks. It was about $30 on Amazon. One night I forgot to charge the battery pack and my phone battery died in the parks the next day. What are my fast passes? What time are my dining reservations? How can I take photos of my kids!?! The drama! Enter the FuelRod battery exchange kiosk. You purchase the battery on site with a major credit card, it comes with all the cords you need for any Apple or Android smartphone or tablet. Simply plug it in, use it and then return it to the kiosk for a fully charged battery! Genius! They are lightweight and not much larger than a AA battery. Several Ears of Experience agents and I enjoyed using this new feature in the parks this weekend and I am a huge fan. Check out our little how to video.

Taking your child on his or her first trip to Walt Disney World just isn't complete without getting them their first pair of Mickey ears. There are so many choices out there! You can choose to make your own pair from tutorials on Pinterest, or even buy them from DisneyStore.com, but there is something to be said for waiting until you get to Walt Disney World and creating an entire event out of the purchase! As soon as you pass under the train depot at Magic Kingdom and head to the right you see the Town Square theater where you can meet the Mouse himself and to the right of that is a small gift shop called Curtain Call Collectibles. This is actually part of the exit after you meet Mickey and Tinker Bell, so you could go meet Mickey and then pick out your Ears. The selections change often and the prices start at $13.95. There are infant and junior hats, as well as adult. You can buy the hat as is or add a little personalized flair to it! You can add a name for $3.00 or even write a saying (for example, "Happily Ever After" for honeymooners) for $7.00 per line. Then choose your thread color and font. After you purchase it the personalization will begin! If there are no hats waiting to be embroidered they can do yours right before your eyes and have it ready within about 5 minutes. If they are backed up you can leave it there and pick it up within a few hours. Then take your brand new ear hat for a ride on It's a Small World! Other Walt Disney World locations to get personalized ears: The Five and Dime at Hollywood Studios or Mouse Gears at Epcot. So get out there are get your Ears on!

This week, announcements were made regarding some new, exciting itineraries for Disney Cruise Line's four ships. From Europe to Alaska to the Caribbean there is something for every traveler. Sailings are open to the public beginning today, April 14th. Disney Wonder The Disney Wonder will return to Alaska for 5, 7, and 9 night sailings visiting glaciers, fjords and national parks. A new stop, Icy Straight Point offers an interesting port adventure to guests who want to experience Alaska in a new way- by zip line! Disney Magic The Disney Magic will return to Europe next summer adding some new destinations to her passport: Amsterdam and Stonehenge. Amsterdam can be visited as part of the 10-night sailing from Copenhagen, Denmark to Dover, England. Disney Fantasy The Disney Fantasy will continue 7 night sailings from Port Canaveral, Florida, but is adding 10 and 11 night itineraries to the Southern Caribbean voyages. Disney Dream The Disney Dream will continue her signature 3 and 4 night sailings to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral, but has also added several 5 night sailings in June and early July. The most notable feature of these sailings is that guests will get to visit Castaway Cay, Disney's private island TWICE during their vacation. People often ask me what's the secret to finding an affordable Disney Cruise Line vacation and my answer is the same every time- book early! Cruises prices fluctuate based on demand and once categories start to sell out prices actually go up. Booking the day an itinerary is announced locks you in at a less expensive rate for these sailings. If you are interested in a quote for a Disney Cruise Line vacation for anytime now through summer 2017 fill out a quote request form at MamaKnowsMickey.com or contact at [email protected]. Sailings booked as a result of a quote this week will get an additional $25 onboard credit per stateroom! |
